Fatal Venango County crash death of Seth Baughman
Seth Baughman, a 31-year-old resident of Polk, was killed on Wednesday afternoon when a PennDOT truck he was riding in crashed in Mineral Township, Venango County.
The deadly accident occurred around 2:54 p.m. on June 18 along State Route 965, also known locally as Jackson Center Polk Road. According to Pennsylvania State Police, the vehicle involved was a 2020 Mack truck traveling east when it experienced a sudden malfunction in the front passenger-side tire.
As a result of the mechanical failure, the truck veered off the south edge of the roadway, entered a ditch, and collided with a tree. Seth Baughman was in the passenger seat at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Venango County Coroner’s Office.
Robert Greenlee, 58, of Franklin, who was driving the vehicle, also died in the crash. Both men were employees of PennDOT and were working when the fatal incident took place.
PennDOT District 1 spokesperson Jillian Harry expressed condolences to the victims’ families and coworkers, saying the department is deeply saddened by the loss.
Authorities confirmed that an investigation into the exact cause of the crash remains active.
