David Holmes Jr., 65, tragically lost his life in a high-velocity vehicle accident near the Monterra Apartments in Parkland, Pierce County. The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Holmes succumbed to multiple blunt-force injuries sustained in the crash.

 

The incident occurred on June 14 close to the intersection of 112th Street East and D Street East. Authorities responded to the scene shortly before noon after a single car slammed into a fence and a tree. Holmes was a passenger in the vehicle, which was being driven by a 54-year-old woman. Both were transported to a nearby hospital, but Holmes passed away en route.

 

Deputies described the collision as involving extremely excessive speed, well beyond legal limits, categorizing the crash as reckless driving. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office indicated the driver is currently suspected of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence. Investigators also believe drugs were present in the vehicle at the time.

 

The female driver remains hospitalized in critical condition and has not yet been released or booked. Officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and have not announced when charges may be filed.
