Fatal Green Valley plane crash death of Miguel Ornelas and Robert Guerrero

Miguel Ornelas, a 41-year-old student pilot, and Robert Guerrero, a 74-year-old flight instructor, were both killed in a plane crash Thursday in Green Valley, Arizona.

 

According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. when the U.S. Air Force notified authorities about a missing aircraft that had departed Ryan Airfield but never returned.

 

Search and Rescue units from PCSD responded and located the downed aircraft, a Cessna A150, in a remote area southwest of Tucson. A helicopter crew confirmed both occupants were deceased at the scene.

 

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

 

The aircraft was listed as destroyed, and the specific cause of the incident remains undetermined at this time.
