Fatal Indianapolis shooting death of Javarius Bickett
Authorities in Indianapolis have identified 2-year-old Javarius Bickett as the young victim who died following a shooting incident on Thursday, which police currently believe was accidental.
Emergency responders were called to the CVS located in the 2300 block of East 46th Street just after 3 p.m. Officers arrived to find Bickett suffering from a gunshot wound outside of a vehicle.
The child was transported to Riley Hospital in critical condition, where he later died despite medical efforts to save him.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, initial findings suggest the shooting occurred inside a vehicle and was accidental in nature. Investigators have confirmed that the incident appears to be isolated and all individuals involved have been identified.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office has confirmed Bickett’s identity and is conducting an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of death.
The investigation remains active as authorities continue to gather more information about the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
