Fatal Florence shooting death of Jai’Mere Jordan
A deadly shooting that took place on Thursday along North Irby Street in Florence, South Carolina, claimed the life of 16-year-old Jai’Mere Jordan and left another person critically wounded.
According to the Florence Police Department, the incident stemmed from an argument over a gun sale involving multiple individuals. Authorities reported that one suspect, 20-year-old Mehki Rush, and an unnamed accomplice were involved in the confrontation that led to gunfire.
Rush was taken into custody on Friday and now faces a list of charges, including murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, breach of peace of an aggravated nature, and criminal conspiracy.
The Florence County Coroner’s Office officially identified Jai’Mere Jordan as the deceased victim. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Investigators are continuing to gather information regarding the case as the investigation remains active.
