Wyatt T. Johnson dies in fatal Coffeyville crash

Fatal Coffeyville crash death of Wyatt T. Johnson

A fatal two-vehicle accident on a rural roadway just north of Coffeyville claimed the life of 22-year-old Wyatt T. Johnson on Monday afternoon.

 

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash happened when a 2012 Freightliner truck, driven by 38-year-old Derek A. Taggart of Altamont, was heading south on County Road 4300. At the same time, Johnson was traveling northbound on a 1998 Honda V75 motorcycle.

 

The collision occurred when Taggart attempted to make a left turn into a driveway, and Johnson’s motorcycle struck the front left section of the Freightliner.

 

Emergency responders transported Johnson to Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Taggart was uninjured in the crash.

 

The KHP report mentioned that Johnson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, while Taggart had a seatbelt on.
