Fatal Torrance shooting death of Chyler Paton

Authorities have identified 17-year-old Chyler Paton as the victim who was shot and killed during a pool party in Torrance, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police were dispatched around 8:58 p.m. on Wednesday following reports of gunfire in the 23000 block of Huber Avenue. Upon arrival, Torrance Police Department officers located bullet casings and found Paton suffering from multiple gunshot injuries.

Paramedics with the Torrance Fire Department arrived on the scene but were unable to save the teenager, pronouncing him dead shortly after their arrival.

News footage from the scene captured the victim’s body lying covered in the driveway. Relatives told CBS2 the shooting happened during a party held to mark the end of the college academic year.
