Fatal Sherman Oaks car crash death of Steven Gambaryan
County officials have confirmed the identity of a 12-year-old boy who died in a vehicle collision in Sherman Oaks as Steven Gambaryan.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, Steven was in the front passenger seat of a Lexus when it slammed into a stationary box truck parked on the street. The crash took place at around 10:17 a.m. on Wednesday in the 4400 block of North Woodman Avenue, close to Moorpark Avenue and just south of the Ventura Freeway.
Emergency crews found Steven unresponsive at the scene and declared him dead shortly afterward.
Authorities said the parked truck was being used for deliveries, but there was no immediate information about the Lexus’s speed before the impact.
Three additional individuals were taken to a hospital. A woman and a 10-year-old boy, neither of whom showed visible injuries, were transported as a safety measure due to the fatal nature of the crash. Another person not involved in the collision was taken in for a separate medical concern.
Support for the victim’s family was being provided by both LAPD officers and members of the mayor’s crisis response team.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division is actively investigating the incident.
