Fatal Gaston County crash death of Rashonda Greene
Rashonda Greene, 45, of Gastonia, was killed when a speeding vehicle collided with her car in an intersection crash on the evening of Monday, June 16.
According to authorities, 21-year-old Logan Taylor of Huntersville ran a red light on Armstrong Park Road in a white Dodge Charger. His car struck Greene’s red Hyundai Elantra at the junction with East Hudson Boulevard.
Investigators determined that Taylor was driving under the influence of alcohol, traveling at excessive speed without headlights, and failed to stop at the traffic signal. He has been charged with DUI, felony death by motor vehicle, failure to stop at a red light, and reckless driving.
Greene was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported, and Taylor and his 18-year-old brother—who was a passenger in the Charger—sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Gaston County Police Chief Trent Conard condemned the incident as a harsh reminder that “one poor decision can destroy lives,” urging the public to avoid drinking and driving.
