Fatal Pickens County shooting/car crash death of Francis Andrew March
The Pickens County Coroner’s Office has officially identified a previously missing 70-year-old man following the recovery of his body from a lake straddling the boundary between Greenville and Pickens counties.
Emergency responders were dispatched to Saluda Lake Landing, located on Motor Boat Club Road, shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The initial report indicated that March, from Easley, was aboard a boat when he apparently fell into the water. This incident prompted a significant joint operation involving the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, EMS services, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office. Multiple dive teams worked diligently throughout the evening, and March’s body was eventually located around 8:00 p.m.
In addition to the law enforcement and dive teams, several fire departments provided support at the scene, including the Berea Fire Department, Greenville Police Department, and Greenville Fire Department. The ongoing investigation is being handled collaboratively by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, the Coroner’s Office, and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. Authorities continue to provide updates as further details emerge.
