Fatal southwest Lincoln mobile home fire death of Shon Greenfield

Lincoln authorities have confirmed the identity of the man killed in a fire that destroyed a mobile home in southwest Lincoln over the weekend. The deceased is identified as 36-year-old Shon Greenfield.

Emergency services were dispatched early morning Saturday after receiving reports of flames near West Arlington Avenue and Southwest 15th streets. Initial assessments indicated a porch fire, but the blaze rapidly spread throughout the structure, leading to its complete consumption by flames.

Fire officials stated the origin of the blaze was accidental, traced back to a cigarette that was carelessly discarded. Authorities managed to evacuate three residents from the burning building. Tragically, Mr. Greenfield, who used a wheelchair, was discovered deceased inside the home following the extinguishment of the fire. The fire also claimed the lives of two pets, a dog and a cat.

The Lincoln Fire Rescue Department estimated the total damage from the fire, which also impacted a neighboring mobile home, exceeded $93,000, covering both the structures and their contents.

Law enforcement has notified the family of their loss and is continuing its investigation into the incident.
