Fatal Crown Point car crash death of Saelor Guistolisi

Saelor Guistolisi, an 18-year-old from Crown Point, Indiana, has died after being ejected from her vehicle during a fatal crash, according to authorities. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when the pickup truck she was riding in lost control on U.S. 18.

The young woman, described as a recent high school graduate, suffered a severe head injury after being thrown from the pickup truck that crashed off U.S. 12 at Waverly Road, officials stated. An 18-year-old driver from Crown Point faces multiple felony charges related to the incident.

The initial hearing for the Crown Point man is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m. before Porter Circuit Court Judge Rebecca Buitendorp. Charges against him include operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless homicide, and driving while suspended causing death.

A memorial was set up near the crash scene for the deceased teen, and friends and family have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses. The fund had raised over $13,000 by Monday afternoon.

The probable cause statement detailed the events leading up to the crash: the pickup driver allegedly became enraged after being passed by a smaller car and then drove recklessly around a bend, hitting the shoulder and losing control. The driver refused chemical tests but later registered a blood alcohol content of 0.063%. The legal limit for those under 21 is 0.0%.

Saelor Guistolisi was remembered as an “amazing, beautiful and an extraordinary young woman” who had “big dreams for her future.” The fund’s purpose was to help defray funeral costs during what is described as an “extremely difficult time.”

The investigation continues, and charges are pending.
