Fatal Valley County car crash death of Cristian Mendivil
Tuesday brought closure from the tragic Highway 55 incident when the Ada County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of the deceased. The 30-year resident of McCall lost his life following the collision that occurred on June 16th. Mendivil succumbed to severe trauma suffered in the accident.
The Ada County Coroner detailed that Mendivil was pronounced dead in the hospital’s ICU after efforts to save him failed. The fatal injuries were the result of a significant impact from the three-car pileup Mendivil was involved in.
Idaho State Police reported Mendivil, operating a red Ram 1500 pickup truck, crossed into the opposite lane of Highway 55. This resulted in a devastating collision with two northbound pickup trucks. Mendivil was not secured by a seatbelt during the incident, contributing to the severity of his injuries.
The crash happened around 6:55 a.m. on Monday, June 16th, near mile marker 119 in Valley County. The other two drivers involved in the accident were secured by seatbelts and did not require medical attention. Mendivil was transported to a local hospital where medical staff worked tirelessly, but his injuries were ultimately unsurvivable.
The ongoing investigation into the Highway 55 tragedy is being conducted by Idaho State Police. The details surrounding Mendivil’s crossing of the center line are still under examination by law enforcement.
