A young man perished in a violent incident in east Charlotte’s East Martello Shopping Plaza vicinity on Tuesday evening. The individual killed was Dontre Lamar Williams, a 24-year-old identified by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg authorities were dispatched to Milton Road shortly before 7:30 p.m. The responding officers discovered the deceased inside a local convenience store, suffering from a significant gunshot wound. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by Medical Responders.
Investigators from CMPD are actively reviewing any available video footage from the store to assist with their ongoing probe. At this time, the police department has not disclosed any specifics regarding potential suspects or the number of individuals involved. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown.
