Fatal Ludlow car crash death of Joyce R. Surratt
Joyce R. Surratt, a 56-year-old woman from Paxton, lost her life in a devastating two-vehicle crash near Ludlow, Illinois, on Tuesday afternoon, officials confirmed.
According to the Champaign County Coroner’s Office, the collision occurred around 4:45 p.m. and involved a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle. Surratt, who was behind the wheel of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene along with the truck driver, 62-year-old Scott A. Meuser, also of Paxton.
Another individual, 30-year-old Kelsey J. Greider of Ludlow, was riding in the same car as Surratt and was transported to Carle Hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, Greider later died as a result of her injuries.
Autopsies are scheduled to take place this week to help determine the exact causes of death. Officials from the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office and the coroner’s office are continuing their investigation into what led to the crash.
