Fond du Lac County authorities have officially identified the young motorcyclist killed in a devastating collision with a pickup truck near the Auburn town limits. The 18-year-old victim, Sawyer Dirmeir from Campbellsport, lost his life when his motorcycle veered off the road and collided with the vehicle.
The incident occurred around 3:51 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24th, at the intersection of County V and Auburn-Ashford Drive. Emergency dispatchers reported that Dirmeir arrived at the scene without a pulse and not breathing. Paramedics provided care to the pickup truck driver, a 32-year-old man from Campbellsport, who was subsequently cleared for release from the scene.
Preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation suggest excessive speed on the motorcycle’s part contributed significantly to the tragic outcome. The motorcycle was observed traveling south on County V when it made contact with the pickup truck, which had stopped at a stop sign on Auburn-Ashford Drive. Following the impact, the motorcycle slid off the road and into a ditch below, while the pickup truck ended up on Auburn-Ashford Drive further east.
Investigators are still working to determine the full sequence of events leading up to the collision. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the crash remains active in their investigative portfolio as they piece together the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
