The McLean County Coroner has officially identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a passenger train in Normal on Tuesday. Coroner Kathy Yoder confirmed James E. Camden, a nineteen-year-old from East Peoria, succumbed to multiple injuries in the incident. The accident occurred before 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday near the railway crossing at the intersection of Towanda Avenue and Kays Drive in the northeastern section of Normal.
Local law enforcement and fire rescue units responded to the scene, discovering the body close to the train tracks. Toxicology screenings are currently pending to determine if any substances contributed to the fatality. No further particulars regarding the incident have been released by authorities.
