Fatal Ogden stabbing death of Jennifer Martinez

Jennifer Martinez, a 48-year-old woman, has died following a stabbing incident that occurred outside her Washington Estates Manufactured Home Community residence in northern Ogden on June 19th. Her son, Alec Conrad Martinez, 25, has been arrested in connection with her death. Authorities allege he is responsible for the fatal stabbing.

Ogden police were alerted by a dispatcher who received a frantic call that day at approximately 1 p.m. The caller, identified as the victim’s mother, repeatedly screamed “He has a knife” and “Alec,” before abruptly stopping her cries for help. A man then reported to dispatch believing he had just killed his own mother.

Police located the incident at the Washington Estates Manufactured Home Community near 1450 N. Washington Blvd. Upon arrival, officers encountered Alec Martinez exiting the home, wielding a bloody knife. He initially resisted orders to surrender the weapon before complying and discarding it on the ground. Despite this, he attempted to remove a Taser from an officer’s belt during his transport to the police vehicle.

The victim was discovered on her porch with severe lacerations throughout her body, particularly around her neck. Emergency medical services were immediately dispatched but could not save her life. She was transported to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

According to official arrest documents, Alec Conrad Martinez faces charges including aggravated murder and resisting arrest with violence against a law enforcement officer. He is currently being held without bail at the Weber County Jail.

In an official update regarding this tragic incident, the Ogden Police Department emphasized the importance of addressing domestic violence. The department urged residents experiencing such situations to contact local authorities or seek assistance from resources like the YCC Family Crisis Center, reachable at (801) 394-9456.
