FOSSTON, Minn. — Authorities in Fosston have officially identified the deceased man involved in the recent residential blaze as Kevin Haugen, a 60-year-old resident. His son, Zach Haugen, aged 31, and two of his young grandchildren, aged four and eight, sustained injuries during the incident. Fortunately, a third grandchild was not harmed.
The fire department received the emergency call around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. After the flames were extinguished, Kevin Haugen was located at the scene. Zach Haugen and his three daughters managed to evacuate the home safely, but he and the two older girls were airlifted to a medical facility for treatment.
To support the family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched. As of Thursday, the online fundraiser had surpassed the mark of $19,000 in donations.
