Fatal Elk Grove shooting death of Christian Battaglia
Christian Battaglia, a 19-year-old from Elk Grove, was shot and killed early Monday morning during a violent altercation within his family home, according to local police.
Authorities from the Elk Grove Police Department reported that Christian Battaglia was fatally wounded along with his 51-year-old father, Russell Joseph Battaglia. The suspect in the case is identified as 18-year-old Noah Spencer Battaglia—Christian’s younger brother—who allegedly carried out the shooting just after 5:30 a.m. at a residence on the 8200 block of Triplefin Way.
Police say Noah Battaglia left the scene before law enforcement arrived but was located two hours later in South Sacramento.
He was taken into custody that same evening and booked into Sacramento County Main Jail. Jail records show he faces at least one murder charge and is not eligible for bail.
On Wednesday, Noah Battaglia was formally arraigned. A mandatory settlement conference has been scheduled for late August at Sacramento County Superior Court.
