Fatal Elk Grove shooting death of Russell Joseph Battaglia

Russell Joseph Battaglia, 51, was killed early Monday morning during a deadly domestic dispute in Elk Grove, according to police.

Authorities say Russell Battaglia was shot and killed along with his 19-year-old son, Christian Battaglia, inside their home on the 8200 block of Triplefin Way. The suspected gunman is identified as 18-year-old Noah Spencer Battaglia—Russell’s younger son and Christian’s brother—who allegedly opened fire around 5:30 a.m. during an argument.

Following the shooting, Noah Battaglia reportedly fled the scene but was located two hours later in South Sacramento.

He was arrested that evening and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. He faces at least one charge of murder and is currently being held without the possibility of bail.

Court records indicate Noah Battaglia was arraigned on Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear in Sacramento County Superior Court in late August for a mandatory settlement conference.

Investigators are encouraging anyone with information about the incident to call the Elk Grove Police Department’s investigations bureau at 916-478-8060 or contact Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.
