Fire crews were dispatched to the location on San Fernando Road on Wednesday morning.
The man was identified as Deandre Hall by the Los Angeles County Coroner.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that a backhoe reportedly fell onto the machine that Deandre Hall was operating, causing his immediate death.
A representative from Cal/OSHA has been asked to examine the scene following the incident, according to the fire department’s spokesperson.
