Fatal northeast Harris County Car Crash Death of Joseph Leblanc Jr.
Northeast Harris County authorities report the death of Joseph Leblanc Jr. following a vehicle accident.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office confirms a man died when his car went over a barrier and landed below a bridge in northeast Harris County on Friday. The incident occurred on Homestead Road north of Winfield Road.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene after reports of the crash in the late evening. According to investigators, Leblanc was driving a Hyundai Sonata and lost control of his vehicle. The car struck a sidewalk before crossing a barrier and becoming airborne, falling approximately 34 feet to the ground.
Autopsy results indicate Leblanc was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, and safety features including airbags activated during the impact.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene around 8:15 a.m. on Saturday. No surveillance footage from the area was available to authorities.
Initially, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez mistakenly identified the deceased as female, but officials corrected this information after further examination confirmed the victim was male.
