Fatal Springfield car crash death of Scott Chance

Springfield, Missouri authorities have confirmed that Scott Chance, a 59-year-old resident of Springfield, has passed away following injuries sustained in a recent traffic collision. Springfield police informed Chance’s family of the tragic news.

The Springfield Police Department received a crash report on the evening of June 23, 2025, shortly after 11:55 p.m. Responding officers were dispatched to Kearney Street near its intersection with U.S. Highway 65 after reports of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle.

According to the preliminary police report, Lori Alsup, a 46-year-old Springfield resident operating her 1997 Toyota Camry, was driving eastbound on Kearney Street, crossing the U.S. Highway 65 overpass. The accident occurred near the northbound exit ramp of U.S. Highway 65. Alsup allegedly collided with a pedestrian crossing Kearney Street outside of a designated crosswalk area.

Emergency medical services transported the injured pedestrian, identified as Scott Chance, to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Efforts to locate Chance’s next of kin are currently underway by the authorities.

Springfield Police have classified this incident as part of an active investigation. The department is actively seeking any available information from the public regarding the accident.
