Fatal Wrentham car crash death of Marijane White
Authorities in Wrentham have officially confirmed the identity of the woman who perished in a severe accident on Franklin Street, identifying her as a long-time resident of North Attleborough.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, with officials noting that Marijane White, an 88-year-old from North Attleborough, was the operator of the vehicle involved in the accident.
The accident happened around 4 p.m. on Franklin Street, specifically at the point where it intersects with Eagle Brook Boulevard, close to the Franklin Country Club.
According to the police report, the car surged over a protective barrier and plunged down a slope into a wooded area, which also included a small body of water.
Emergency responders at the scene declared White deceased on the spot, based on their preliminary assessment.
To ensure no one else was left behind, a police dog trained for detection from Foxborough was sent to the vicinity to search the nearby forest.
Police Chief Bill McGrath stated that advanced technology, including canine units and thermal imaging drones, was utilized to confirm there were no other people in the vehicle, in case anyone had been thrown from it into the water or thick vegetation. The investigation concluded that no other individuals were present.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car was behaving strangely before the crash, and McGrath relayed this information as part of the ongoing inquiry.
To manage the scene, officers sealed off a segment of Franklin Street from Creek Street to Elysium Street, and the main thoroughfare was not cleared for traffic until about 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The Wrentham Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction team are currently examining the circumstances of this tragic event.
