Fatal Bucktown shooting death of J’Varus Mcnight
The Chicago Police Department reported that a man was discovered deceased due to gunfire in the 2200-block of West Cortland Street in Bucktown on the early morning of Saturday, June 28th.
Officials have identified the deceased man found shot on Chicago’s Northwest Side early Saturday. He has been confirmed as J’Varus Mcnight.
Police officers were dispatched following a report concerning a shooting incident in Bucktown’s 2200-block of West Cortland Street around 3 a.m.
Chicago Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and found the man, who was 32 years old, without a response.
Subsequently, it was reported by police that the man sustained a chest wound from a gunshot and, despite being taken to St. Mary’s Hospital, he did not survive.
J’Varus Mcnight was officially identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office on Sunday.
Currently, no individual is being held, and Area Five detectives are handling the ongoing investigation.
Chicago police have not released additional details regarding the shooting incident at this time.
