Fatal Rock Hill shooting death of ZyDerec Massey
Law enforcement officials confirmed that a young man, ZyDerec Massey, was fatally shot in Rock Hill during the night of Friday, according to the Rock Hill Police Department.
The incident occurred on Finley Road, close to McFadden Street, shortly after 10 p.m., as stated by authorities.
Medical transport was arranged to Piedmont Medical Center, where doctors pronounced Massey deceased due to the severity of his wounds.
The York County Coroner’s Office has officially recognized ZyDerec Massey as the victim, noting his residency in Rock Hill.
Further details from the initial probe indicate that Massey was operating a vehicle on Finley Road when an unidentified individual discharged a firearm, leading to his injury from the bullet.
The autopsy and toxicology examination are expected to be concluded in the coming days, with the findings still pending.
Massey’s passing is now being examined by both the York County Coroner’s Office and the Rock Hill Police Department.
