Fatal Allen County car crash death of Carolyn Brandon

Tragically, a severe vehicle collision in Allen County claimed the life of Carolyn Brandon, while two additional individuals sustained injuries requiring hospital treatment. The incident occurred on the morning of June 28, beginning shortly after 6 a.m. at the junction of Clare Road and Franklin Road.

According to Kentucky State Police troopers from Post 3, the fatal accident was attributed to a traffic mishap involving two automobiles. Reports indicate that Brandon, a 72-year-old resident of Franklin, was driving a 2008 Chevy Colorado eastbound on Clare Road when she attempted a left turn onto Franklin Road. This maneuver allegedly caused her to collide with a 2020 Toyota Camry, piloted by Brendan Ploughe, a 26-year-old from Scottsville.

Brandon was transported to Franklin Medical Center but was pronounced deceased upon arrival. Meanwhile, Ploughe was airlifted to Bowling Green Medical Center, and Jonathan Blackman, who was a passenger in Brandon’s vehicle, was taken to Greenview Hospital. Medical professionals confirmed that both men suffered minor injuries that did not pose a threat to their lives.

The Kentucky State Police are continuing their probe into the fatal accident to determine all contributing factors.
