Fatal Columbia car crash death of Kendall Lamar Walker

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently examining a serious car crash. This incident resulted in one fatality and three injuries.

Investigators report the collision took place around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday on I-20 heading east. The specific location was near mile marker 51, about four miles east of Gilbert.

According to the Highway Patrol, the accident happened when four motorcyclists were stopped on the right shoulder beneath the Longs Pond Road overpass. A Chrysler vehicle then left the roadway heading right, striking the four motorcyclists.

Highway Patrol officials state that one motorcyclist did not survive the accident and died at the scene. The other three injured riders were taken to Prisma Health Richland.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has officially identified the deceased as 57-year-old Kendall Lamar Walker from Augusta, Georgia. An autopsy report indicates Mr. Walker was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Troopers involved in the incident mentioned that no one inside the Chrysler car was hurt.

The SC Highway Patrol continues to investigate this crash.
