Emergency responders arrived at the intersection of West 33 and The Sportsman’s Gun Range Sunday following a fatal traffic collision. The incident occurred around midday and involved a commercial truck attempting a left turn onto East Butte Road.

According to Madison County Sheriff’s deputies, the westbound truck, which was towing a trailer, was making the turn when a passing westbound vehicle lost control. This passing attempt resulted in a multi-vehicle collision.

The driver of the passenger car sustained severe injuries and was transported to the scene by emergency medical services. Despite resuscitation efforts by bystanders and law enforcement personnel, the individual ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Thomas Ray Archibald, a 69-year-old resident of Rexburg, was identified as the driver of the vehicle involved in the fatal accident. Law enforcement officials have indicated the crash remains under investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and contributing factors.
