According to official reports, emergency services were dispatched to the scene following radio communication at approximately 3:30 a.m. Following the crash, responders discovered a single individual in the southbound flow of traffic at the intersection. Initial information indicates a man was operating his electric bike westbound on 95th Street when he entered the intersection despite the red light signal. Subsequently, a vehicle traveling south on Metcalf Avenue collided with the cyclist within the intersection.
The Overland Park Police Department confirmed through their spokesperson that the cyclist, identified as Desmond Robinson, a 25-year-old from Kansas City, Missouri, did not survive the incident. The driver involved in the collision was reported to be uninjured and was assisting authorities with their ongoing investigation.
