Fatal Asheville car crash death of Larry Lamont McQueen

According to the Asheville Police Department, a person injured by a motor vehicle on March 3 in Asheville has since passed away, as reported by local news outlet WLOS.

Asheville Police noted that this incident represents the fifth fatality involving a pedestrian in 2025 and the 12th fatality linked to motor vehicles during that year.

The July 1 news report initially identified the deceased pedestrian as Larry Lamont McQueen, aged 47.

The Asheville News Service reported that Larry Lamont McQueen was identified as the individual killed in the Asheville accident.

Following the March 3 accident, police were dispatched to Tunnel Road at approximately 12:55 a.m., where they found a pedestrian involved in a vehicle collision in the 200 block of Tunnel Road.

Initial accident reports suggested that McQueen entered the road outside of a designated crosswalk area while traveling westbound, where he was struck by a westbound 2021 Toyota Sienna minivan.

McQueen was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment, where he remained under medical observation until his death was declared on June 27.

Following the incident, McQueen received a citation for obstructing traffic after the March 3 accident. After discussions with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office, it was decided that the driver would not face any criminal charges. The driver remained present at the scene.
