Fatal Perdido Key, Florida car crash death of Jackson Cunningham and Nicole Moore – Obituary
Jackson Cunningham, 20, from Hoover, and Nicole Moore, 20, from Calera, tragically lost their lives after being struck by a vehicle at Perdido Key in Florida on Saturday, July 5.
Authorities from the Florida Highway Patrol reported that the accident happened around 2:57 a.m. near the junction of River Road and State Route 292. According to officials, an off-duty deputy from Escambia County, driving an unmarked vehicle, was heading east on SR 292 when he struck the two pedestrians as they were crossing the street. The deputy was reportedly returning home from an off-duty assignment at the time.
Both Cunningham and Moore were pronounced dead at the scene. The 47-year-old deputy from Pensacola was not hurt in the incident.
Following the tragedy, tributes poured in for both victims. On July 8, Theta Chi Alabama honored Cunningham on social media, sharing, “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Jackson Cunningham. A proud Hoover native and a member of our 2022 pledge class, Jackson was known for his strong character, kindness, and faith. His legacy will continue to touch many lives.â€
Paul Mitchell The School in Birmingham also shared heartfelt words for Moore on Facebook, saying, “Our hearts ache as we remember Nicole Moore, one of our bright and talented future professionals. Her laughter, warmth, and kindness brightened every room she entered. Her humor, skills, and spirit will never be forgotten by her classmates and instructors.â€
The crash remains under investigation, and more details will be released as they become available.
