Fatal carbon monoxide poisoning death of Brenda Correa

Three individuals connected to a Chicago suburb, including two minors, lost their lives last week during a vacation in Mexico. Brenda Correa, a 41-year-old resident of Des Plaines, and her 15-year-old son Leo and 13-year-old son Armando, were victims of a suspected carbon monoxide leak inside the home they rented in Michoacán.

The discovery of the bodies occurred on July 2. Funeral arrangements face complications due to the ongoing investigation, preventing the return of the deceased to the United States for burial. They will be interred in Mexico.

Brenda Correa worked as an educator at the Westerhold Early Learning Center in Des Plaines. The school district conveyed condolences to the family, stating their profound sorrow over the loss not only of Brenda Correa but also her children.

Organizers are preparing a memorial service for the following day in Des Plaines.
