Fatal Chubbuck car crash death of Darold Stricklin

BLACKFOOT — An individual who passed away Thursday following a one-car accident on Interstate 15 north of Chubbuck has been identified by the authorities.

The Bannock County Coroner’s office has confirmed the deceased as Darold Stricklin, who was 31 years old and resided in Blackfoot.

Further details from the Idaho State Police indicate that the collision took place around 9:35 p.m. near the 73-mile marker. Initial reports stated Stricklin was operating a 2003 silver Honda Accord in the southbound direction when he lost control of his vehicle. His car crossed into the median divider, impacting several empty automobiles and construction equipment, which included a red 2019 Ford F-150, a CAT tractor blade, and a CAT front-end loader.

The investigating team noted that Stricklin was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. As a result, he was ejected from the vehicle. He succumbed to his injuries immediately at the accident site.

The accident caused the southbound left lane to remain closed for approximately two hours as emergency services provided assistance.

The incident is currently being examined by the Idaho State Police.

“The family and friends of Mr. Stricklin are in our thoughts during this difficult time,” stated the Coroner in a public statement.
