A 37-year-old man identified as Oshea Woods has been confirmed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office as the individual who lost their life in a Dayton shooting that occurred on the nation’s birthday celebration.
Officials from the medical facility in the region pronounced the man deceased at a hospital facility late on a Friday afternoon.
Dayton law enforcement personnel were dispatched to a specific address on West Second Street around 10:45 p.m. on that same day due to reports of a firearm-related incident.
A caller to emergency services noted that the injured individual was still showing some sign of life, albeit faintly.
This informant also stated that they could not identify the person responsible for firing the weapon.
Mr. Woods was then taken to a healthcare institution, but regrettably, he ultimately did not overcome his injuries.
Further examination by investigators revealed that the actual event of violence transpired at a separate location.
Members of the homicide investigation team have already spoken with an individual considered to be of potential relevance and are continuing their ongoing examination.
