Fatal Fayetteville shooting death of Rolando Gomez II

Fayetteville police announced Friday they have arrested an individual connected to a fatal shooting that occurred earlier in June.

The arrested person, Kam’Ron Tolson, who is eighteen years old and lives in Fayetteville, faces charges including first-degree murder. He is also charged with firing a weapon at an occupied location, multiple counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, possessing stolen property illegally, and orchestrating a criminal venture.

The shooting took place approximately at 3:30 a.m. on June 8 in the area of Dornoch Drive, specifically the 3600 block.

Emergency responders located Rolando Gomez II suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hoke County authorities involved in parole and probation were instrumental in apprehending Tolson and bringing him into custody.

Tolson is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without the requirement of posting bond.

Fayetteville Police Department officials stated that this incident is still being actively investigated.
