Antoinette Johnson dies in fatal Houston hit and run
Fatal Houston hit and run death of Antoinette Johnson
Houston police are investigating a fatal collision from Thursday morning. The incident involved a woman who fell from a pickup truck and was struck by a sport utility vehicle, authorities stated.
Witnesses reported seeing the victim standing in the bed of a dark-colored truck on Almeda Road near Fuqua. She fell to the ground after a few miles, and a second dark vehicle ran over her without stopping. Both drivers fled the scene.
The family has confirmed the deceased is Antoinette Johnson. They shared that she remains with her 17-year-old son and expressed profound grief over their loss. Their plans for college tours with her son will be delayed.
A witness, leaving the Red Rooster club around 1:30 a.m., encountered the victim exiting the moving truck. He described the area as poorly lit. After seeing the woman fall and the SUV strike her, he contacted emergency services and remained with her until help arrived. Despite the medical attention provided on the scene, the victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The witness believes the dark conditions and lack of stopping by either driver might have prevented others from noticing the incident if it had occurred elsewhere. Law enforcement is seeking information about the two vehicles involved.
Antoinette Johnson’s family expressed shock over the loss and mentioned their future plans were disrupted. They urge anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run to contact authorities.
Police are actively seeking public assistance to identify the drivers of the two vehicles involved in the fatal incident.
