A severe accident transpired on Interstate 59/20 within Greene County, Alabama, resulting in multiple fatalities. This incident, which happened after dusk on the evening of July 5, involved a collision with a direct impact.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reported that two motor vehicles crashed shortly past 10 p.m., roughly seven miles from the town of Eutaw. A pickup truck and a minivan were involved in the accident, and following the contact, both vehicles ignited.
Officials confirmed that the operators of the two cars were deceased at the point of arrival. The minivan had additional occupants, including an adult and two minors, who also lost their lives.
The individuals who perished have been identified. Stephen Keele, a 45-year-old from Ellisville, Mississippi, was driving the pickup truck. Tejaswini Cholleti, who was 36 and from Aubrey, Texas, was operating the minivan. Additionally, Sri Bejugam, a 40-year-old from Aubrey, Texas, was a passenger in the minivan. Two children, aged 6 and 8 and both from Aubrey, Texas, were also killed in the incident.
Highway Patrol Division officers are examining the causes of the tragic event.
