The Prince George’s County Police Department announced today the identification of the pedestrian involved in a hit-and-run collision in Oxon Hill. The victim, identified as Earl Parker Jr., a 45-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., died as a result of injuries sustained in the incident.
According to authorities, the accident occurred shortly after midnight on July 9 near the intersection of Wheeler Road and Birchtree Lane. Initial reports indicate that Parker was walking on the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle. Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene, but the injuries proved fatal.
The operator of the vehicle involved in the collision did not stop and left the scene immediately. As of Monday, July 14, detectives with the Prince George’s County Police Department are actively investigating the case and working to identify the responsible party.
