Early Sunday morning, following a 911 dispatch about a potential stabbing incident near retail locations in Centereach, police personnel from Suffolk County arrived at the scene. Medical professionals provided treatment to an injured individual discovered at the location. However, Emilson Joan Ordoñez-Banegas approached the situation with a knife, prompting an officer to use their weapon in self-defense or duty-related circumstances. Law enforcement officials reported the suspect, Ordoñez-Banegas, was carrying a knife, allegedly held above his head initially. He was subsequently transported to Stony Brook Hospital, where medical staff confirmed his death.
