Fatal Robinsonville shooting death of Nykeria Jude

Deputies from the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office and the US Marshals Service discovered a body on Monday in a wooded area behind houses on Soleil Drive in Robinsonville. This location is near where Nykeria Jude, aged thirty, a twenty-four-year-old man, and a six-year-old girl were shot on Friday. Jude succumbed to her wounds from the previous day’s attack. The man and the child, whose connection to Jude has not been disclosed, were taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and airlifted for additional care.

The individual being investigated was identified as Markell Braxton, age forty-one, who resides in Robinsonville. The Sheriff’s Office indicated that the position of the discovered body, located near the residence where Jude was killed and the others were shot, combined with further information gathered, leads them to believe the remains belong to Braxton.

The remains will be forwarded to the Mississippi Crime Lab in Jackson for official confirmation. Details concerning the cause and manner of death have not yet been released.

The investigation continues. Citizens with information about this occurrence are asked to contact the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office at 662-363-1411.
