Beatriz Guzman and Jeronimo Ramirez die in fatal San Antonio shooting
Fatal San Antonio shooting death of Beatriz Guzman and Jeronimo Ramirez
Authorities in San Antonio have arrested a man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend and nephew during a violent altercation late Sunday night.
According to an arrest affidavit, 48-year-old Lorenzo Aleman allegedly shot 41-year-old Beatriz Guzman and 31-year-old Jeronimo Ramirez around 11 p.m. in the parking lot of an H-E-B grocery store on the 4100 block of South New Braunfels Avenue.
Investigators say the victims were reportedly involved in a secret intimate relationship, which they had concealed from Aleman. A witness told police that this hidden relationship is believed to have been a motive behind the shooting.
Guzman and Ramirez had reportedly arranged to meet someone at the parking lot, believed to be Aleman. Upon arriving at the location in a white SUV, Aleman allegedly confronted the pair as they stood next to Guzman’s vehicle. He then opened fire, fatally wounding both individuals.
Aleman fled the scene in the SUV immediately after the shooting, police said. Witnesses at the scene later assisted police in identifying both the suspect and his vehicle. Aleman was arrested roughly five hours later, following a photo lineup in which he was identified.
Authorities have not released details regarding how Aleman discovered the relationship between Guzman and Ramirez or what triggered the confrontation at the parking lot.
