The New Orleans Police Department, with aid from the United States Marshals Service, has secured an arrest in the homicide investigation involving a 34-year-old man who was killed in the Seventh District this month.

Investigators from the Homicide Unit identified Joshua Stewart, a Black male born on October 11, 1986, as the individual responsible for the July 9 shooting. Following his identification, a warrant for second-degree murder was issued on July 11.

Emergency responders arrived at the 8000 Block of Trapier Street around 4:17 p.m. on that date and discovered the victim, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Medical personnel from EMS provided initial care before transporting him to a hospital, where his condition deteriorated, leading to his death shortly after arrival.

The Orleans Parish Coroner confirmed the identity of the deceased as Armand Williams, aged 34. Stewart was apprehended on July 16 and transported to the Orleans Justice Center for official processing.
