Fatal Punaluu car crash death of Anela Yuen
A third person identified by Honolulu authorities died as a result of the fatal accident on Kamehameha Highway that took place in Punaluu last month. The Honolulu medical examiner has now confirmed the identity of the third individual killed in the incident.
The fatality involved an auto collision where four women were occupants of a vehicle that met headfirst with another car on the highway on June 17th. Anela Yuen, who was 28 years old and lived in Honolulu, passed away from her injuries on June 25th.
Prior to this confirmation, the authorities had already named two other victims from the same incident. Katrell Plunkett, aged 28 and related by cousinship to Anela Yuen, and Miyanna Haiola, an 18-year-old cousin, were declared deceased at the scene of the accident.
Investigations by the police have concluded that excessive speed was a factor that contributed to the collision. It was also noted that none of the individuals inside the vehicle were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
