The WBRC news outlet reported that two young people lost their lives early Sunday morning in Mount Olive. A pickup truck collided with a utility pole, resulting in the tragic incident.
Sheriff’s deputies from Jefferson County were dispatched at 2:58 a.m. on Sunday to the scene. Upon their arrival, they found two individuals deceased at the location, while several occupants were ejected from the vehicle.
Identified by officials are the victims: Treylen Anderson Floyd, who was 18 and from Warrior, and Tristan Drake Cox, who was 19 and from Dora.
Five women and one man, all aged between 16 and 19, were moved to UAB Hospital for treatment, with their injuries not considered critical.
Floyd and Cox had recently finished high school at Corner High School. In response, the district’s educational head, Dr. Walter Gonsoulin, shared his sorrow via a written statement.
