Fatal Columbia car crash death of Rose Oles
Officials from Kershaw County Coroner’s Office have confirmed the identity of the person killed in a Wednesday morning collision.
The crash happened on Wednesday at 11:33 a.m. on Whiting Way according to South Carolina Highway Patrol information.
A 2024 model Mazda was reported traveling north on Whiting Way before losing control. The car reportedly crossed the median and crashed into a barrier and subsequently a tree.
Rose Oles, an 85-year-old woman, was a passenger in the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. Emergency Medical Services personnel took both individuals involved to Prisma Health Richland. Despite medical intervention, Miss Oles did not survive her serious injuries.
The driver’s health status is currently unknown.
South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of this collision.
