Fatal Mt. Morris plane crash death of Alexander Leamon
The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that 23-year-old Alexander Leamon from Lena is the individual who was operating the aircraft when the accident happened on Tuesday morning in Mt. Morris, Illinois.
Upon arrival at the scene around the 2800 block of W. Illinois Route 64, emergency personnel discovered the Cessna T188c crop duster aircraft on fire, with the sole occupant being Leamon.
Illinois Route 64 was closed for an extended period due to the crash investigation. Additionally, utility crews from ComEd were dispatched to address multiple damaged power lines resulting from the incident.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are leading the investigation into the accident. Part of the NTSB’s process involves providing support and updates to the family of the victim.
