Fatal Castle Hayne murder death of Lynda Neubeck

Law enforcement agencies have apprehended 61-year-old David Snow, the spouse of the deceased, in relation to her death in Castle Hayne, North Carolina. The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Snow absconded from the state after the incident but was eventually captured in Georgetown, South Carolina.

Deputies identified the body of Neubeck on Thursday, June 24, during a wellness check at a property situated on Whitewood Way. The coroner was called following the discovery, who determined that she had sustained fatal injuries from blunt force trauma.

A multi-agency effort led to Snow’s location and subsequent arrest by the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office. He is currently being held in anticipation of being transferred back to North Carolina where he faces accusations of first-degree murder.

Local residents observed police presence at the incident location well into the early hours of Friday morning. Neighbors reported seeing officers at the scene until just before dawn. Charlene Davis, a resident across the property who has lived there for fifteen years, characterized the victim and suspect as a peaceful couple. She also shared that her last known contact with the victim was the day before her death and added that Neubeck was employed at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

At this point, investigators have not revealed any potential reasons for the violence and the examination of the incident is still ongoing.
