Law enforcement officials have announced charges against an individual following a serious collision on the New Year’s Day holiday that resulted in the death of Jose Parra Guadama, a Road Ranger. The fatal accident happened on Interstate 95, leading to injuries among Florida Highway Patrol officers. Latoya Hayes is currently being held in custody.
Jose Parra Guadama, identified as the deceased Road Ranger, passed away as a result of the devastating incident occurring on I-95 in the Hollywood area. The narrative surrounding this tragic event includes the driver, Latoya Hayes, who was reportedly responsible for losing control of her vehicle early in the new year, sparking a significant pileup involving multiple cars. This deadly chain reaction led to the untimely death of the young man.
The crash, which took place around 3:36 a.m. on January 1st, was initiated by Latoya Hayes driving south on the interstate near the Hollywood Boulevard overpass. Her vehicle had gone off control, subsequently causing a collision that involved five cars in total. Jose Parra Guadama, who was 28 years old, met his demise when he was impacted by one of the vehicles involved in the pileup.
Before this unfortunate incident, Jose Parra Guadama was providing assistance for an earlier accident on the express lanes, working through IncidentClear, a subcontractor for the Florida Department of Transportation. He was originally from Venezuela and had recently gotten married, just five months prior to his death.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Latoya Hayes faces several criminal charges stemming from her actions. These include vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter, causing property damage while under the influence, and reckless driving that led to property damage.
Hayes was taken into custody on Thursday and is currently housed at the Broward County Jail. Her next scheduled appearance in court is currently pending.
